My sculpture should represent what glass evokes in me and how I feel about this material.
I choosed glass because it is one of my favourite materials, It was always fascinating for me to see installations, sculptures and process of making glass in glass factories.
I wanted to show the characteristic features of glass throught using other materials such as plastic sheets, timber, wire, strings and nylon. The sculpture reflects fragility of this material, its’ elegance and geometrical precision of final poducts from glass. The sculpture consists of two parts, the first one represents the solid, hard and sharp character of glass, is transparent and hollow. In the contrast to the first one, the second part shows the fragile side of glass. Strings tighten inside of the smaller cube are in a composition of a shard’s cluster. Liquid substance arising during the production in glass factories and moldable abilities of this material are reflected in small drops from glue placed on strings.
Purity, simplicity, brightness, elegance – this represents what I wanted to my scuplture look like.
